Sue M. Pisa

Sue M. (Farnett) Pisa, 90, of Central Square, passed away on Wednesday, March 3, 2021.

Sue was a native of Central Square and an alumnus of Paul V. Moore High School (Class of 1947). She received her BM Degree from Boston University and finished her graduate work in Music Education at SUNY Oswego. Sue taught elementary music for 3 years in Central Square (1953-1956), before teaching high school chorus and theory until her retirement in 1988. She was a talented pianist and organist. She has shared her talents with the community as the Organist and Choir Director for the Central Square Methodist Church as well as Music Director, Organist and Choir Director for St. Michael’s Catholic Church for many years. While teaching at the high school, Sue volunteered to produce, and direct the annual musicals for many years with no compensation. She was also integral in the creation and music direction of St. Michael’s Summer Dinner Theatre during the 1980’s. Her dedication to the choral and drama program at Central Square was an inspiration and safe harbor for many students.

Surviving are her daughters; Patricia (Maurice) Griffin, and Theresa Pisa-Marshall, as well as several cousins.

She was predeceased by her parents, Steven E. and Jessie M. (Daniels) Farnett, and her sister Joan Farnett.

Calling hours will be held on Tuesday, March 9, 2021 from 4:00 PM until 7:00 PM at Traub Funeral Home, Central Square. A memorial Mass will be said in the spring followed by a spring burial in Hillside Cemetery, Central Square.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Sue M. Pisa Scholarship Fund at Paul V. Moore High School.
