Matthew J. Ostrander

Matthew J. Ostrander, 60, of Central Square NY, passed away peacefully at St. Joseph’s Hospital after a short battle with cancer, on October 21st of 2020.  He was born March 10th of 1960 to his parents, Thomas Sr. and Rose Ostrander. He was pre deceased by his sister, Sherrey Hull, and his brother, Thomas Ostrander Jr.

Matthew enjoyed going fishing, his favorite spot was Chippewa Creek. He also enjoyed running, reading and loved science. Matthew was a master at Trivial Pursuit. He was also a Yankees, Giants and SU fan. When he was young he was able to play the piano by ear.

Matthew is survived by his parents, Thomas Sr. and Rose Ostrander; his sister, Shelley (Ross) Worley; his three brothers, Scott (Kathy) Ostrander, Barry Ostrander, Brent (Sheilah) Ostrander; his godson, Timothy Hull; many nieces and nephews, as well as great nieces and nephews.

The family would like to recognize the wonderful staff at Julia Trail and St. Joseph’s Hospital for caring for him, and being so great with him.

Calling hours will be held at Traub Funeral Home in Central Square, NY from 11 AM to 1 PM on Monday 26, 2020, with services to follow. Interment at Roosevelt Cemetery in Pennellville, NY. In lieu of flowers please consider donation to either American Cancer Society or Alzheimer’s Association.
