September 19, 1925 ~ January 3, 2022 (age 96)

Obituary

Marjorie B. Rood, 96, of Camden passed away peacefully at home in Camden, New York, on Monday.  Born September 19, 1925, the daughter of the late Harry and Elizabeth (Bellamy) Bryant of Amboy, she was also pre-deceased by her seven siblings: June, Clinton, Eileen, Kenneth, Lila, Dale and Garner.  Marjorie married Paul H. Rood on September 12th, 1946, who passed away on February 7th, 1986.

Over the years, Marjorie was a member of the Amboy Center Juvenile Grange, the Forestry Club, the 4-H club, three senior citizen groups in Annsville, Camden and Williamstown and a member of the Amboy Methodist Church for over 30 years.

Marjorie had a diverse working career starting at the family farm in Amboy where she worked right along side the men in the field, inside the family barn, operating the farm vehicles as well as helping to support the various other farmers in the region..  Marjorie also worked at Bill Ranke’s store in Taberg, the Rochester Shoetree Company in Camden and finally with the United States Postal Service in Williamstown, where she retired at age 82.

The last three years of Marjorie’s life required 24 hour care.  Marjorie’s family would like to extend a sincere thank you to the caregiver agency in Utica, who provided care from 8 am to 8 pm everyday.

Most recently, we would like to acknowledge Tammy, Lexi, Julie and Lacey for their compassion and commitment to Marjorie.  She was fortunate to have such great care.  The family would also like to extend a sincere thank you to Dr. Jennifer Quinn for her professional care and compassion.

Marjorie did not have children of her own, but she did have a large extended family.  A sincere thank you to all the nieces and nephews who helped manage Marjorie’s care, and most of all her friends who stopped by to say hello,  brought food every week, sent a card, or called.  Marjorie was truly loved and appreciated by many.

In support and honor of Marjorie’s wishes, there will be no calling hours or formal services.  Spring burial will be in Fairview cemetery in Williamstown.  Marjorie requested any donations be made to the Amboy Center Methodist church or a charity of your choice.
