Kenneth "Kenny" Ballschmieder Obituary

Kenneth “Kenny” C. Ballschmieder, 69, of Lakeport USA passed away unexpectedly on Thursday, February 18, 2021 at his home.

Born in Clarence, NY, he has lived in Lakeport since 1983.  Kenny was a graduate of Guilderland High School and was an Air Force Sergeant from 1976 – 1981.

He was employed at Phillips Magnavox and Anaren Microwave as an Engineer until he retired in 2019.

Kenny was the life of the party, always trying to make people laugh and live for the day.  Lovingly known as ‘Popi’, he looked forward to spending time with his grandsons.  His favorite thing to say to them was “Cool Beans Daddy’o!”

Kenny was an avid motorcyclist and lover of everything Harley Davidson. Throughout the years, he enjoyed motorcycle rides with his wife and friends.  A favorite annual trip was a ride to Speculator, NY to see the fall foliage, best known as the ‘Changing of the Colors’ ride.

Kenny was predeceased by his parents, Charles and Gisele Ballschmieder; sister, Josie Birbiglia; and brother-in-law, Bill Thomas.

Surviving are his wife of 40 years, Joyce; daughter, April (Tom) Chigaridas (Eckert); sisters, Charlene (Gus) Bivona, Michelle (Mike) LaLonde, Roxanne Thomas, Donna (Kent) DeBie, Wendy Jacobsen and Darby (Chuck) Racey; grandchildren, Christopher (Bri), Kacen and Kyler Chigaridas; and many nieces and nephews.

At Kenny’s request, there will be no funeral or memorial service. Instead, his family asks that friends and loved ones hop on their motorcycle when they are able. Remember, “It’s not the destination, it’s the journey”.
