June Bryant Obituary

June Mary Corsette Bryant, 92, of Constantia passed away on April 4, 2021.

June was born on August 31, 1928 in Syracuse, the firstborn child of the late Frederick and Leona Cottet Corsette, living most of her life in Constantia. On December 23, 1950 June was united in marriage with Robert D. Bryant at St. Mary’s Rectory in Cleveland. From this union were born four children; Robert (Robin) Bryant, Rickey (Ann) Bryant, Tina (Gordon) Lyons, and Pamela (Michael) Sterling. Mr. Bryant passed away on November 21, 1984.

She was an ambitious woman who started working at the age of 12 to help support her family. Her childhood struggles led to her devotion to charitable work. She often provided rides to appointments, volunteered at the North Syracuse Food Pantry, the North Shore Christmas Gift Program, church fundraisers, and blood mobiles. She would spend hours each Christmas wrapping the gifts. When asked why she did it, she said that children should not suffer from the actions of their parents and that sometimes people just fall on hard times and need a little extra help. She had many jobs including painting, wallpapering, picking and selling wild blueberries, midwifery, waitressing at the Vanderbilt, R. E. Dietz and Presto-Lite. She retired from General Electric in 1988 after over 32 years of service.

June enjoyed her flower gardens and sharing her plants with others, summers spent in Nova Scotia, enjoying the family camp in Canada and on the St. Lawrence River. She had a passion for genealogy research and local history, belonging to the following local historical societies: West Monroe, Cleveland, Amboy, and Half-Shire. She and her friend, Marion Hodges, spent many hours creating cemetery censuses in the area. She had a wealth of knowledge and a keen memory. She was also a member of the Trach-Auringer Post 7325 VFW Ladies Auxiliary, Thursday night pitch league, a founding member of the Constantia Chapter AARP, Cleveland Seniors, and Cleveland Red Hats. She was a member of St. Bernadette’s Catholic Church in Constantia. Her most treasured times were spent with her family. She will be greatly missed.

Besides her parents and husband, she is predeceased by her sisters, Beverly, Delores, and Donna; her brothers, Norman and Neil.

She is survived by her children; brothers, Bernard, Donald, Ellwyn, and Robert; ten grandchildren, Benjamin, Calandra, Patrick, Rickey, Nathaniel, Malia, Tiah, Joshua, Danielle, and Samuel; and six great-grandchildren.

Calling hours will be held on Friday, April 9, 2021 from 10:00 AM until 1:00 PM at Traub Funeral Home, Central Square with a funeral service immediately following. Burial will be in Union Settlement Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests contributions to be made to North Shore Ambulance and/or Constantia Fire Department.
