Genevieve M. (Temple) Morey

Genevieve M. Temple Morey, 87, of Mallory, passed peacefully on September 30, 2020 surrounded by her loving family from Alzheimer’s disease, which she fought fearlessly for over 10 years. She was born January 17, 1933 in Syracuse to the late Charles and Bertha Temple. Gen or Genny, as she was most affectionately known as, lived in Syracuse until she was around 12 years old when her family moved from Montgomery Street to Mallory, NY.

She met and fell in love with Clayton E. Morey and the two were married in February 1951. They had four sons, Clayton, Jr., Bradley, William, and Russell.

The most important thing in her life was her family, who she did everything for. Besides raising her four boys, she also helped raise her grandkids, Russell and Ashley, who lived right next door and were always by her side.

Genny had many jobs throughout her life, a maid, an assembler with GE, Smith & Corona, Birdseye, Nestle, later a cook at Central Square Schools, and finally an assembler at Eagle Comtronics from which she retired in 1992.

She kept an immaculately clean house and took pride in everything she did. She had a work ethic most would envy. She loved to cook and bake and canned everything that came out of the garden. In her later years, she enjoyed talking senior citizen trips, going to exercise classes with her friends, going for walks and rides…she was always very active with her family and friends.

Besides her parents, Genny was predeceased by her husband Clayton Sr., sisters, Dorothy Smith and Bertha Irene Reichel, and most recently her son, Bradley.

She is survived by her sister, Diana (Gary) Walts; brothers-in-law, Dale (Sue) and Neil Morey; sons, Clayton, Jr., William, and Russell (Laurel) Morey; grandchildren, Russell (Lauren) Morey and Ashley (Alex) Kowalczuk; three great-grandchildren, Troy Simmons, Hannah and Lana Morey, as well as many nieces and nephews.

Calling hours will be held from 4:00 PM – 7:00 PM on Monday, October 5, 2020 at Traub Funeral Home. Face coverings are required. Genny’s funeral ceremony and burial in West Monroe Cemetery will be private for the family.
