Frank W. Killian

Frank W. Killian, 77, of Central Square, NY, passed away peacefully on February 6, 2021. He was born in Syracuse, NY, on May 17, 1943, and grew up in the Mexico area before moving to Central Square in 1984. He was a graduate of Mexico Academy and Central Schools.

Frank was employed with the International Brotherhood of Teamsters local 182, and worked for Atlas Linen, and retired from Ryder Logistics as a truck driver. Frank also served in the United State Navy, on the USS Shadwell during the Vietnam War. He enjoyed hunting with his son and grandsons, and fishing with his granddaughter, Alissa. He loved snowmobiling with his Little Canada Road Cat Crew, attending all his son, Bill’s, sporting events during high school and his granddaughter, Sage’s, dance recitals. Frank enjoyed spending time with his family at family BBQ’s, and get togethers. He was an avid SU Basketball fan, and traveled to NY to watch the Yankee’s play. He and his wife, Cathy, had their first date on his boat and it was smooth sailing there after. They cruised, Casino'ed, spent time in the Adirondack’s at Lake George, and Long Lake, where Frank had spent his summers as a child with his grandparents. Frank was a loving, caring, and engaged husband, father, and grandfather.

Frank is survived by his loving wife, Cathy (Courcy) Killian of 27 years; his children, Tammy Taylor, Randall (Julie) Killian, Melissa (Jeff) Hina, and William McGuirk; his grandchildren Alissa, Luke, Logan, Josh, Jared, Emily, Candra, Niccalla, Liam, Sage (Twerp), and his dog Joey; great grandchildren, Dom, and Abby; and many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

He is predeceased by his parents, Frank and Doris Killian; his first wife, Eleanor (Poirier) Killian; his brother, David; and sister, Yvonne.

Frank’s calling hours will be held at Traub Funeral Home in Central Square, on Saturday, February 13, 2021, from 12:00pm to 1:30pm, with a private memorial service to follow.

In the Spring a celebration of life will be held at the VFW in Hastings and a burial in Pleasant Lawn Cemetery at the family’s convenience.

In lieu of flowers the family would like everyone to consider donations to the Central Square Fire Department.
