Edward F. Ferris, Sr

Ed Ferris, Sr. lived an abundant life, full of hard work and family. While he came from humble beginnings, living in an orphanage with his sister, Grace, starting at a young age, he was a very dedicated employee at Nestle. He retired from the refining room after 43 years and was known for working double shifts to support his wife and three children. Often loved and cajoled by his peers, he spent many evenings after work frequenting Musky’s Tavern with the boys.

After he retired, he became a fixture at the counter at Mimi’s Diner for lunchtime. Always a great conversationalist, he barely missed a day for several years. If anything was happening with anyone in Fulton, Ed knew. He loved his town and the people in it.

When he wasn’t being social around Fulton, he spent much of his time watching country westerns, like Gunsmoke. His dreams of living a country lifestyle became a reality when he moved onto a farm in 2007 with his daughter and granddaughter. He loved watching the cows and seeing the day to day life of a Central New York dairy farm. Not long after, in 2011, he moved to North Carolina to be with his sons and grandchildren. He spent many Sundays on his son’s farm watching the alpacas and grandchildren as they played. 

He leaves behind his sister Grace Debrosky of Utica, NY; his three children, Edward Jr. and Frank Ferris of Concord NC, and Maureen Ferris of Rome NY; his granddaughters Nicole Plato of Rome, NY and Anne Louise Ferris of Concord NC; his grandsons, John and Samuel Ferris of Concord NC; and his great-grandchildren Ryan and Alexa Plato of Rome NY.

Calling Hours will be held on Thursday, June 3, 2021, 11 am to 1 pm, at Traub Funeral Home in Central Square, followed by a Funeral Service at 1 pm. Burial will be immediately following the service in West Monroe Cemetery in West Monroe, NY.
