Douglas J. Kneeskern

Douglas J. Kneeskern, 62, passed away unexpectedly on March 14th, 2020.

Doug was a lifelong resident of Bridgeport, NY, but much preferred the sunshine of Florida. He was a retired CSX Railroad Brakeman, and General Electric Information Technologist. 

Doug was a very kind hearted and humble man. He thoroughly enjoyed helping people in any way he could; there wasn’t a person in his life that wasn’t cherished by him. Quick to flash a smile, make a joke, or listen when someone needed “an ear”; he was the epitome of all things good.

His truest joy and greatest accomplishment was how he loved his family. Affectionately named “Boompa” by his grandchildren; there wasn’t a recital, concert, play, game, or holiday he missed. He was a wonderful son, caring brother, beloved uncle, amazing father, and loving grandfather; all roles he took great pride in.

To have known him, was to love him.

He is predeceased by his daughter Rosemarie D. Kneeskern; brothers Daniel R. and Richard E. Kneeskern Jr.; and father Richard E. Kneeskern. Douglas leaves behind his beloved daughter Sarah(Alex Grigorita), and grandchildren Jamie, Frederick, Julie and Demi; mother Ann, sister Amy(John McCune), former wife Christine, many nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family and friends.

We ask you to keep Doug and everyone close to him in your prayers as we try to march through the next couple of weeks.

Calling Hours will be held on Friday, August 28th, 1:00 pm to 3:00 pm, at Traub Funeral Home, Inc., 7975 Rt. 31, Bridgeport, with a Memorial Service to follow at 3:00 pm. Burial will take place immediately after the service at Pine Plains Cemetery in Kirkville.
