David J Merritt

He was born on July 10, 1965 in Oswego, son of Norman W. Merritt and Jean E. (Willmert) Sanders.  David received his education in Baldwinsville schools.  He enlisted with the US Army Reserves and was honorably discharged.  His last professional employment was with Tri State Auto Auction. 

David was an avid fisherman and love the outdoors.  His whole world revolved around his children and family and was a proud single parent.  He will be deeply missed by all those who were fortunate enough to have met him and been in his life.

Survivors include his beloved family; his children, David Merritt, Jr. of Palmyra, Christopher Merritt and wife Sasha of Palmyra, John Cheney of N. Syracuse, Joshua Merritt and wife Destini of N. Syracuse, Justin Merritt and wife Nevaeh of Texas, Jenna Merritt and Juliet Merritt of N. Syracuse; siblings, Deborah Klahs and husband Spike of Canastota, James Merritt and wife Elizabeth of Wolcott, Michael Charboneau of Auburn, Brad Thurston of Auburn, Chad Thurston of Oswego, Pamela Merritt of Syracuse, Amanda Merritt of Bridgeport, Jennifer Sanders of Auburn and Shawn Sanders; six cherished grandchildren; several nieces, nephews and cousins.  He was preceded in death by a brother Norman W. Merritt, Jr., and by his second mom, Theresa W. Merritt.  

Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to his funeral service commencing at 1 pm on Monday, August 2, 2021 from the chapel of Traub Funeral Home, Inc., 7975 NY-31, Bridgeport, 315-633-2511 with Pastor Bruce Craig, officiating.  Relatives and friends are invited to pay their respects also on Monday at the funeral home, from 12 noon until 1 pm, prior to the service.  Funeral procession will follow to Bridgeport Cemetery where he will be laid to rest.
