Anthony Richard Scrimale, Sr., 89, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by family on Monday, September 11, 2023.
Anthony was born in Canicatti, Sicily to Edward and Grace Scrimale. His family moved to Pennsylvania, later settling in Solvay, NY where he grew up. After high school, he served in the United States Army living in Elizabethtown, Kentucky with his wife Kaye until his honorable discharge at which time they became life residents of West Monroe, NY.
Anthony was in the Auto Body business until he retired. He served in many roles in the industry from a hands-on body technician, a body shop manager and eventually retiring as an auto body teacher at Citi Boces in Mexico, NY. Anthony was also instrumental in purchasing land and helping build Scrimale’s Collision of West Monroe.
Anthony loved golfing, fishing, gardening and wintering in Bradenton, FL, but one of his pride and joys was his home, which he referred to as his Quarter Acre of Paradise. In his early years, Anthony was a competitive bowler, winning the NYS Bowling Tournament at the age of 16. Most of all, Anthony was very proud of his large extended family of 54. Anthony was pre-deceased by two grandsons, John Scrimale in 2014 and Michael Scrimale in 2017.
Surviors include his wife of 67 years, Kaye Pierson Scrimale; five sons, Anthony (Melissa), Edward, Michael (Deborah), Jim (Terry), and John (Michele); his daughter Lisa (David) Wildrick; his brother, Louis Scrimale; 16 grandchildren, Anthony (Kendall) Scrimale, Angela Scrimale (Garrett Herholtz), Tyler Scrimale, Edward Scrimale, Dana (Joseph) Rinaldo, Brianna McKnight, Staci (Robyn) Rood, Joseph (Brittany) Scrimale, Makinsie (Peter) Mariak, Alex Scrimale, Seth VanBuren, Jessica (Thomas) Witherington, Jade Scrimale Jacob Wildrick, Louis Wildrick and Samuel Wildrick; thirteen great grandchildren, Sage, Anthony, Olive, Amelia, Edward, Isaiah, Joseph, Ava, Kelsi, Kylie, Jaxon, Xander and Mia; and one great great grandchild, Jaxton; and several nieces and nephews.
Calling hours will be 4-7pm on Thursday, September 14, 2023 at Traub Funeral Home, 684 N. Main St., Central Square, NY with services immediately following.
