Robert "Bob" Lacy, 76, of Bridgeport, passed from this physical world in the comfort of his own home, surrounded by his family, on September 11, 2018.
Born on 2/7/1942, in New Rochelle, NY, Bob was the son of the late Richard and Dorothy Lacy. Bob grew up in Syracuse, NY, and graduated from North High where he met and married his high school sweetheart and wife of 55 years. Bob was a member of the Lions Club International Foundation where he was the recipient of the Melvin Jones Fellow Award. He was active in humanitarian activities that included delivering food baskets, working the chicken bbq at the VFW, collecting eye glasses for the needy, and raising money to support community efforts. Most knew Bob as the Owner of the L&S Grocery Store in Lakeport. With this position in a small town, Bob was the "Go To" for many in their times of need. He was very devoted to his family and community and passed on a strong work ethic to all he loved.
For recreation, Bob enjoyed being active. You could always see him walking his dog Freckles at Chapman Park. After experiencing a quadruple bypass Bob ramped up his fitness level, allowing him to survive his knee replacement and stroke. Champion Fitness Center in Cicero became his favorite place to be. He gained close friendships and an entire gym family. "Staying Alive at 75" was his motto as he took swimming lessons for the first time in his life.
Bob is survived by his loving and devoted wife of 55 years, Anna (Gregoriew) Lacy; sons Michael and John Lacy; daughter Mary-Ann (Tim) Davis; sister Florence Cellini; grandsons Austin Lacy, Evrhett and Kohl Davis; numerous nieces and nephews; and loving dog Freckles.
