Joyce Wheaton

WHEATON, Joyce, 83, passed away peacefully in her sleep Wednesday, September 5, in Wesley Chapel, Florida. She was born and raised in Syracuse, New York then moved to Florida in 2016. She graduated from the Crouse Irving Hospital School of Nursing in 1956 as a Registered Nurse. Joyce loved being a school nurse at Cicero Elementary for 28 years in the North Syracuse Central School District and she was a recipient of the “NY State Legislature’s 1992 Nurse of Distinction” award. She was a member of the Sacred Heart Church in Cicero, NY. Joyce was also a member of the Quilt Guild and the Cicero Senior Center; she loved traveling with them – cruising and journeying both cross country and internationally. Joyce’s hobbies included quilting, painting, crafts, and crossword puzzles. She volunteered with Hospice after retiring as a school nurse in 1998. She loved spending time with family and friends. Joyce is preceded in death by her parents, Fred and Dorothy Moulton. She is survived by three daughters; Cynthia Hopper and her husband, Robert, Bonnie Altier and her husband, Christopher, Beth Young and her husband, Terry; seven grandchildren, Daniel, David, Patric, Nathan, Emily, Steven, and Erin; five great-grandchildren, Brandon, Dallas, Madison, Vivian Joyce, and a little one expected in November, 2018. 
Calling hours will take place at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday September 15 at Loyless Funeral Home with a short service at 2:00 p.m. Calling hours in New York will be held at Traub Funeral Home in Central Square, NY on Sunday September 30, 2:00 – 4:00 pm. A private graveside service will follow.
