John V. Currier, 107, longest living resident of Oswego County passed away at home on Saturday in the presence of family.
Born August 29, 1912 in Stockholm, NY to the late John A. Currier and Malvina Debien, John married the late Josephine (Dody) Currier. Upon her passing, John moved to the Central New York area where he worked for General Electric until retirement. John loved SU sports, hunting, fishing, wildlife and most of all his family. He also was a life member of Toad Harbor Rod & Gun Club. Besides his parents and wife, John was also pre-deceased by his sons, Ronald Currier, James Currier and Gary Currier, grandchildren, Thomas Currier, Corky Arbuckle and his daughter in-laws, Joan Currier and Shirley Currier.
Surviving are his son, John R. Currier; 16 grandchildren; 26 great grandchildren; 36 great great grandchildren; daughter in law, Nancy Currier; and several nieces and nephews.
Calling hours will be 4-7pm Monday at Traub Funeral Home, Central Square with 7pm services following. Spring burial will be at St. Patricks Cemetery, Brasher Falls, NY.
In Lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Oswego Office of the Aging or Oswego County Meals on Wheels.
