George Gates

George Gates, 81 of Mexico passed away peacefully on Sunday March 24th at home with family at his side. He was born in Oswego, NY to Charles and Nettie Gates.  George was a retired Army Sergeant serving for 20 years. During this time he was a Crash Rescue Fire Fighter for 16 years and for 4 years he was a Fire Fighter Instructor.  George has always enjoyed automotive body work throughout his lifetime.  He loved being a great provider to his family, horseback riding, camping, traveling and piloting small aircrafts (crop duster).  While living in Alaska he loved panning for gold and exploring new areas.

George is predeceased by his parents, Charles and Netti Gates, wife, Maryrose and a daughter, Debbie Florczyk.

He is survived by his current wife, Shirley Gates; three daughters, Sheila, Denise and Alicia; four sons, George, David, Shawn and Michael; two step daughters, Tammera and Dori; a step son, Brett; 20 grandchildren; several great grandchildren.

A Remembrance will be held on Saturday, March 30th from 10 AM to 5 PM at his home.
