Anne Bush

Anne Bush was born on May 7, 1924 to Bruce and Winifred Failing in Syracuse, NY. She died peacefully in her sleep on May 2nd after living a long life full of grit, tenaciousness and laughter. 

A longtime resident of Central Square and Sandy Pond, NY, she was always up for adventure, taking the troop train to town as she and Bill honeymooned after their June wedding in 1942. Anne and Bill split their time after retirement  between Upstate NY and Lake Wales, Fl.  An active member in the Lake Wales/Saddlebag Lake Women's Club and a member of the Indian Lakes and Elms Golf Clubs. Anne loved her friends, her community, her family, bridge and golf. She was an active volunteer in the Central Square school system for a number of years, sharing her quick laughter and sense of fun.

Later in life, a visit with grandma was always special for her grandchildren as a walk in the woods could become an adventure and if the timing was right, she would whisk the children off to a county fair or on a shopping expedition for contraband cereals and snacks.  Anne was a spirited woman and a mean captain of the kitchen.  Her potato salad, cookies and boiled icing cake were favorites with both her family and the loquacious ladies of her bridge club.

She is predeceased by her husband of 64 years, William J. Bush; daughter Linda; her parents; and four siblings, Bruce, William, John and Lucille. She is remembered with love, affection and a healthy dose of respect by her two sons, William G. Bush (Linda) and Stephen J. Bush (Debbie); four grand children Timothy, Carolyn, David, and Kristin Bush; and five great grandchildren William, Bennett, Grant and Xander Bush and Nora Maragno.

Anne was a true matriarch and anchor in the family and she will be deeply missed.  The family wishes to thank her wonderful care givers, Ann Pitts, Mary DiNicola and her daughter-in-law Debbie, along with the caring staff at the Cottages Nursing home in Cicero, NY.  There are no Calling Hours and a Memorial Celebration is planned for Thursday, July 11, 2019, at 11:00 am at Park Rose Estates in Liverpool..  Arrangements are being handled by the Traub Funeral Home in Central Square.  Donations can be made to Oswego County Hospice or Francis House.
