Virginia F Rosteck

Virginia “Ginny” Rosteck, 98, of Constantia, died on February 4, 2018. Ginny was born August 12, 1919 to Edward and Helen Frost in Orient, Long Island, NY. Edward was a Methodist minister and Ginny’s faith was a core part of her life.  She was predeceased by two loving husbands, Hayward Sears Cleveland (1968) and Werner Rosteck (1998)

After retiring at 65, Ginny became actively involved in community service. She played the organ at the Bernards Bay United Methodist Church and the Constantia Congressional Church for many years. At 86, Ginny was still delivering Meals-on-Wheels after 10 years, where she was older than most of her clients. She was a trustee for the Julie Thurston Library Guild in Constantia and served as the “Sunshine Chairman” who sent cards and flowers to folks needing a lift. In her spare time, she knit Afghans for hospital patients.

Ginny was known for her intelligence, positive attitude, ready smile and easy laughter. She brightened the lives of all that she met. In her memoir, Ginny finished by writing: “It’s been a great life!”

She is survived by her sons, Jeffrey Cleveland of Los Ojos, NM, and David Cleveland of Grafton, NY, daughter-in-law Susi Cleveland; grandsons, Jeffrey Cleveland of NYC and his partner Andrew Gwyther, and Joshua Cleveland of Bethany, CT, and granddaughter-in law Catriona Cleveland, and two great granddaughters Ashling and Emma Cleveland.

Memorial Services will be held at 1:00 pm, on Saturday, May 19, 2018, at the Bernards Bay United Methodist Church.  In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Bernhards Bay United Methodist Church, PO Box 154, Bernhards Bay, NY  13028.
